MANAGEMENT OF TOPFAITH UNIVERSITY INAUGURATES NEW COTUS EXECUTIVE MEMBERS.
The Management of Topfaith University has inaugurated new executive for the Council of Topfaith University Students (COTUS) to lead the affairs of student body in the 2023/2024 academic session.
At the inauguration, the Vice Chancellor charged the student leaders with personal development, self-discipline, and the need for positive contributions to the welfare of students on campus. He also promised to work with the new leadership as he has always done. “I promise to work with you. I want you to cultivate a culture of dialogue, a culture of open-door policy. Today, I charge you to act as a bridge between the student body and Management”, he said.
Also speaking at the event, the Board of Trustees, Dr. Emmanuel Abraham, admonished the new student leaders to take up their leadership roles as training opportunity for their future careers and endeavors. In his words, “Your leadership should be guided by high cerebral contributions. Leadership today is not title-related. Those titles are just for identification. The most important part of leadership is service. These roles will set the pace for future opportunities you will all find yourselves.”
The outgoing and Pioneer COTUS President, Mr. Utibe Obot, in his valedictory speech, appreciated the Management, staff, and students for their support during his tenure. He officially handed over the mantle of leadership to the newly inaugurated COTUS President, Mr. Israel Abia, charging him and his officers to improve upon previous leadership templates for the good of students on campus. In the same vein, Mr. Israel Abia promised to lead the next COTU Executive into making sure that students’ welfare on campus remains a priority.
The inauguration was moderated by the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Mr. Amah T. Amah Jnr., while the oath-taking was conducted by Barrister Kene-Unwana Ibia on July 9, 2023, at the Law Lecture Theatre.
